Quantitative Imaging of Brain Pathologies using Florescence Molecular Contrast

Friday, 19 August 2011: 15.30-16.15

Frederic Leblond, Dartmouth College

I will describe in vivo approaches used to quantify fluorescent molecular tracers that have accumulated in brain pathologies. The talk will be divided in two parts: (1) the presentation of a pre-clinical approach using single-photon counting technology to image mice and rat models of brain cancer using time-domain fluorescence tomography, (2) the clinical integration of fluorescence imaging and detection technology during brain tumor resection procedures. The main emphasis of the talk will be on calibration and light transport modeling methods allowing quantification of fluorescent markers.
